Description	PRIMARY FOCUS Registered Nurses assess, plan, organize, implement, provide, and evaluate nursing and other services for clients in the community setting by assessing client needs, establishing patient care plans, delivering treatment and providing support and health education as required. RESPONSIBILITIES  Patients� hygiene, including bathing, mouth care, skin care, hair and nail care and perineal care.  Take and record vital signs.  Perform dressing changes, including drains.  Irrigate and care for colostomies.  Install catheters as well as irrigate and care for same.  Supervise and administer medications, including I.V. and I.M. routes. Assist client with their program of self-medication.  Record treatment and medications administered.  Observe and record patients� reactions to treatments and medications given.  Care for chest tubes, including drainage and dressing.  Monitor fluid intake and output.  Test urine. Record and report if necessary.  Tracheotomy care: suction, clean and change dressings.  Prevent and care for decubitus ulcers.  Apply and administer heat and cold (e.g. compresses).  Apply binders and bandages.  Put the patient through both passive and active range of motion exercises.  Complete the physical tasks along with meeting the emotional needs of the client and family.  Recognize any deterioration in clients� functioning ability and report to person in charge.  Encourage the family and client to follow medical and nursing recommendations.  Provide emotional support to clients and assess mental processes.  Refer, coordinate and facilitate access to appropriate community resources.  Be conscious of the hazards in the home environment and to act accordingly in meeting the safety and protection needs of the Client. In keeping with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, the Registered Nurse will take every reasonable precaution to ensure that the workplace is safe.
Experience	Previous community and/or Long Term Care facility experience an asset. New Grads Welcome!
Qualifications	 Completion of a university, college or other approved registered nursing program.  Licensure by a provincial or territorial governing body.  Two years related experience - teaching & counseling in health care / promotion  Knowledge of Public Health / Community Nursing
